2-11-2018 Never Off Duty

FROM THE PASTOR

February 11, 2018

Connie and I was in Meijer’s yesterday getting a few groceries. As we left the store and approached the car Connie looked down and in the snow was a very nice diamond ring. At first, we thought it was just costume jewelry but closer examination convinced us that it was in fact real. Without hesitation we looked at each other and said, “We will load the groceries in the car and then run it into the service desk someone will be looking for it”.

So, we did and provided details as to where we found it… row, side and parking space. My prayer is that the rightful owner will stop by the desk and recover it. We could have kept it… but that was never even a consideration. You see, it wasn’t ours to keep. It was just our joy to be used in its recovery. I told Connie, “I guess God wanted an honest person to find it.”

It’s important that we, as Christians, recognize that we are never ‘off-duty’. We represent Christ in every aspect of our lives. As Paul wrote the church in Colossi…

Colossians 3:17 (NASB)
17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

I wonder if those who know us best would recognize Jesus if they saw Him for the very first time solely by the lives that we live? Why? Peter has the answer…

1 Peter 1:7 (NASB)
7 so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

Thank you for your faithfulness. Pastor Larry
