FROM THE PASTOR
November 26, 2017
First, let me thank all of you for the kind card and comments. Connie and I both feel blessed to be part of God’s work here at Lakeside. You are special to us.
Secondly… I don’t know about you, but my daily routine has been shot this week. Not necessarily in a bad way, but over the years I have found that maintaining a set schedule is best to ensure I get things done on time. It also helps me have confidence so I won’t wake up on Sunday morning an d discover I have forgotten something important… like the message. But this has been a different week. Even our Labrador has struggled. Bed time is 9 and she has begun to beg to go to bed at 8. Our timing has just been off all week which reminds me of what Solomon said…
Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NASB)
1 There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven—
He then goes on to list a series of events that are governed by time. At the conclusion of that list Solomon writes…
Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NASB)
11 He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, …
As Christians its important that we recognize this. Even the birth – ministry – resurrection – and soon return of our Lord is on a set schedule. The Holy Spirit confirmed this through Paul as he was inspired to write…
Romans 5:6 (NASB)
6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
I must confess that even though I trust my Lord and His perfect timing I still at times find myself trying to hurry things along. In fact, if I do say so myself, I’ve become pretty efficient at reminding God what time it is and how long it’s taking Him to reveal His will. Notice I said “efficient”, I purposely avoided “affective’ because, thankfully, God doesn’t always give me what I ‘want’, but teaches me to wait for what is ‘perfect’.
The resulting lesson is that as frantically as I want God to move in my life, its important that I surrender to His perfect will and timing. Isaiah reminds us of this…
Isaiah 55:8 (NASB)
8 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD.
Trust is like faith, as both are foundational to our relationship with our Lord. Do we ‘TRUST’ God to always have the very best prepared for us? And do we have the ‘FAITH’ to accept however He answers us as the ‘very best’. Trust and Faith allows God the opportunity to do great and mighty things in our lives that honor Him.
1 Peter 5:6 (NASB)
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time,
Thank You for your faithfulness!
