FROM THE PASTOR
June 11, 2017
Have you ever had one of those weeks when every time you turn around something is going wrong? Of course, you have… you live in a fallen world too. Well, this week was one of those weeks for me. It started out on Monday.
On Monday, my Grandson and I got up at dawn to go fishing. Got to the lake, launched the boat, turned the key to the motor and…. silence. Tried it again… silence. Tried all the tricks I knew several times and… silence. Loaded up the boat and headed for the dealer. Got to the dealer and it took him about 2 minutes to fix it. It was human error. I tried everything but moving the throttle to ensure that it was in neutral. Which it wasn’t. That is until the dealer jiggled it… then it was… and the engine started. But too late to fish.
Tuesday, I got up at dawn and headed for the lake traveling south on 131 from Centre St. All was going well until that deer ran out in front of me. Yes, I hit it. Ran completely over it with both the Jeep and the boat trailer. The trailer went airborne and only by God’s grace did I keep it from rolling over. The Jeep survived with about $2100 in damage and the boat came out unharmed. For that, I am thankful and I do recognize God’s hand in keeping me safe.
Wednesday, Connie had to dismiss a child from the Center because of an on-going poor behavior issue. That is especially stressful on Connie because she truly cares for every child and desires the best for them. Unfortunately, sometimes the risks outweigh the reward and hard decisions must be made for all, including the child who was dismissed.
Thursday, well Thursday, I just hid in the house most of the day. Except for the tooth I did had pulled. Wasn’t too bad except I think the roots were grounded somewhere near my bellybutton.
Friday, I did get to go fishing. But discovered that my running lights on the trailer didn’t work. After several hours of searching for a bad fuse and replacing the 4-wire harness I finally found the bad fuse. It was blown, but wasn’t apparent. Bottom line, I hope your week went better than mine.
What I am thankful for though is that God brought us through every event unharmed. Yes, each event was frustrating at the time, but I was provided the opportunity to be an example to my Grandson that God always walks with us no matter the circumstances. You see, things could have been much worse and I even learned some valuable lessons along the way.
Christ was serious when He said…
Matthew 11:28-30 (NASB)
28 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS.
30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."
We serve a God who loves us that much!!
Thank You for your faithfulness! Pastor Larry
