8-4-2019 In the Clouds

FROM THE PASTOR

August 4, 2019

I was sitting on the lake mid-morning one day this week and couldn’t help but notice the amazing clouds in the sky. They were the big white fluffy ones that seemed to extend miles into the sky. I believe they’re called cumulus clouds. As always, the sight of such magnificence brought back memories of years past.

I can recall as a young boy laying in the grass on a hillside next to our house gazing in awe at the clouds as they moved by. I was never sure where they came from and, likewise, never knew where they were going… but for just a few moments they were mine and I enjoyed them to the fullest. In later years I would see them in the big skies of Montana… fly around and through them hundreds of times in my travels… and amazingly never grew tired of experiencing them.

As I have grown more mature in understanding God’s Word it occurs to me that these clouds are a creation intended to remind us of His glory.

Exodus 24:16 (NASB)
16 The glory of the LORD rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days; and on the seventh day He called to Moses from the midst of the cloud.

Exodus 40:34-35 (NASB)
34 Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.
35 Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.

Ezekiel 10:4 (NASB)
4 Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub to the threshold of the temple, and the temple was filled with the cloud and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the LORD.

One day Christ will come in the clouds and in an instant, we will join Him in the air…

Revelation 1:7 (NASB)
7 BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.

When that happens (come Lord quickly) together we will experience the clouds in a way we never thought possible.

Thank you for your faithfulness. Pastor Larry
